Heartberry Education

Welcome to Heartberry Education — Ode'imin Gikinoo'amaagewin.

Heartberry Education is an Indigenous-owned educational consulting and curriculum development initiative rooted in relationships, reciprocity, and transformative learning. We work alongside schools, educators, organizations, and communities to support meaningful, authentic, and culturally grounded Indigenous education.

Through workshops, professional learning, consultation, keynote speaking, and curriculum development, Heartberry Education supports deeper understandings of Indigenous histories, cultures, worldviews, pedagogies, languages, and ways of knowing. Our work centres Indigenous perspectives while helping create spaces of belonging, reflection, and meaningful reconciliation through relationships and community.

The name Ode'imin Gikinoo'amaagewin comes from ode'imin, the Anishinaabemowin word for strawberry, often translated as heartberry. In Anishinaabe teachings, the heartberry represents love, relationships, trust, kindness, and connection. It reminds us to lead with our hearts and nurture balance between the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of ourselves.

Gikinoo'amaagewin speaks to the act and practice of teaching and learning — reflecting Heartberry Education’s commitment to sharing knowledge in relational, reciprocal, and heart-centred ways. At Heartberry Education, we believe Indigenous education has the power to bring people together through learning, truth, story, and relationship.

We welcome opportunities to collaborate with schools, organizations, educators, and communities through professional development, Indigenous education consultation, curriculum development, and speaking engagements.

Let's Connect.
